Very nice pleasant hotel on the edge of the New Forest. The staff were very helpful.

    Superb

The staff were super both at reception and in the restaurant. We booked our stay for my parents 55th wedding anniversary, and they felt the whole stay was perfect.

We did feel that as there was such a difference in the 2 rooms we had (12 and 23) that the price shouldn't have been the same for both. Room 12 is incredibly cramped, and there was only just enough room to get into the shower room - luckily we were able to give my parents room 23 which was absolutely lovely. I am surprised that the rates were the same when the rooms were so different.

    Exceptional

Stayed for 1 night and when we arrived we were very impressed. The room was a four poster bed, not very big, but ideal. Clean/great view & a juliette balcony. We booked for dinner & it was superb. There was a wedding reception on, but it was quite nice, sat & spoke to some of the guests. I would recommend to anyone, great location, great hotel. ***** stars from me, :-)

    Very friendly & efficient staff

Lack of details i.e. no soap in bathroom, discarded bottle under bed, room very small for a "luxury" hotel at this price.

    Fabulous

We only stopped for the one night but all of the staff were very freindly and efficent. The hotel is in a lovely spot right on the edge of the New Forest so next time we will be taking our bikes! We took dinner and breakfast in the Restraunt and on both occasions the food was excellent as was the service. I will definitly consider staying here again but next perhaps longer!

    Very good

We stayed in this hotel several times already. The main reason for our return is the hotel surroundings and location. This hotel is an old building without an elevator. The rooms are renovated, but overall the level of comfort is compatible with a three-star hotel. The dining room, though, is very attractive. Half of the rooms face the hotel entrance, and half the hotel garden. Obviously, the rooms facing the garden have much nicer view. The parking lot is next to the hotel entrance, so if you stay in a room facing it you can hear the cars driving in and out (which is not a major disturbance). The hotel is in a secluded location. When you are on its grounds, there are no roads or other buildings in sight. The garden is superb: a large lawn with a few majestic trees. However, during daytime one can hear a constant humm coming from the nearby M27 motorway. When we stay in the New Forest, we hike during daytime and spend the evening in a nearby town, mainly Southampton or Salisbury. Since the hotel is located very close to the M27 highway, the access to the nearby cities is very convenient. On the other hand there are no hiking trails near the hotel, and most of the New Forest attractions require driving through Lyndhurst. There is always a traffic delay in entering Lyndhurst from the North, typically between 5 to 20 minutes. And finally, the dinner in the restaurant is very good to excellent.

No elevators. Furniture in room insufficient. There was no douche in the room, only as an add-on to the bath. The bath itself was very small and it was hard to use the douche. There was no WiFi internet in the room (though there was in the lobby). The morning buffet is dull and scarce, though the guests can order a hot dish from a menu, which is included. Humm from the nearby M27 motorway during daytime.

    Exceptional

The hotel was immaculately presented, our room recently refurbished/new. Evening meal was excellent, truly superb and by booking a table online prior to arrival we were given a free bottle of decent wine. Breakfast was again excellent. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend this hotel being ideally positioned for visiting the New Forest.

The only thing that was rather odd was the eco ceiling lighting, took a full five minutes before it was up to full brightness but that is maybe being picky. Apart from that nothing.
